Instagram Is Impressed With Martha Stewart’s Kiwi Vines
Martha Stewart took to Instagram this week to share photos of the kiwi vines – officially called actinidia – growing along the south side of her home on Mount Desert Island in Maine. She shared that the vines have been meticulously tended since they were planted in the 1920s and due to the dry weather in the area this summer, the kiwis have thrived. She wrote that she liked this type of kiwi fruit more than the “rough-skinned, seed-filled” type from California that most people are used to.
Stewart’s fans responded to comments to share how impressed they were with the kiwi vines, with plenty of red heart displays and, of course, kiwi emoji. “I never thought kiwis could survive this. [climate]..Surprising! they or they [look] so healthy” wrote user @juliengray1234567 while Elizabeth Graves, the former editor of Martha Stewart Living, wondered what might be the fate of all those kiwis, writing “Wow, and so much fruit. Curious minds want to know exactly what you’ll do with them!” Another reviewer who runs a Maine cider house made an apt suggestion: “They’re gorgeous, delicious, and make interesting wine!”
