The Hill Bill Cyclocross Race Returns for Volume 2
Hill Bill: Volume 2 sponsored by Educators Credit Union returns to the hilly terrain of Rock Snow Park (snowless this time of year) on Sunday, September 18 as part of the Wisconsin Cyclocross Series.
Cyclocross (also abbreviated as “cross” or “CX”) is a type of short cycle race that sends riders on tricks that weave and spin over mixed terrain – such as grass, mud, pavement and sand – and often include other obstacles. which require participants to get off and carry their bikes. You could imagine a combination of road biking, mountain biking and a mud race.
This year, the Hill Bill race course has been updated to add a little more distance and a few extra twists on each lap, and take advantage of more features in the area. This should provide a few extra seconds of respite between each of the tough climbs.
Like last year’s inaugural edition, Hill Bill: Volume 2 will provide fun for drivers and spectators alike, with plenty of challenging races throughout the day for all ages and skill levels. Participants can compete for points or prizes, challenge their friends or just run for fun. There are 18 different categories, each divided by age, skill and gender, so participants can choose the race they are most comfortable in, including a cyclo-tots course for under-9s. (For real this time, I promise!)
Plus, there’s the return of the Hugh Jill Fat Bike Race, made possible through a partnership with Wheel & Sprocket.
The show is free. Spectators can walk the course, enjoy the view overlooking the Root River, and view the action from virtually any angle on the course.
Attendees can save $10 on their attendance by registering in advance. People over 21 will receive a drink ticket offered by Rebel Hard Coffee & Tea. Taco Barrio and Board Together Ice Cream will be available for purchase, and additional drinks can be purchased at the ski lodge.
Medical assistance provided by Structural Elements.
Races for all ages, genders and skill levels take place throughout the day. New entrants will want to choose between Junior or Category 5 races. Almost any style of bike is welcome. Lycra not required.
